I have decided to add something to the thread on hiking poles.  I was at
an outfitters tonight and talked to them about the Leki poles.  I asked
about the titanium shock absorber poles.

He said stay away from them and then showed me why.  Take as set of TI
poles and put a bit of sideways stress on them, as can happen on the
trail.  Then try the shock absorber, they do not work.  Now do the same
with the Makalu, none TI poles, and the the shock absorbers still work.
It was quite eye opening.

By the way it was not a money sales as he said he would give me either
for the same price.

Just something to consider.
