It will be interesting. Straw settling is usually not an issue WRT insulative factors because most structural bale designs call for the bales to be pre-compressed (as a unit not individually.) not simply left to compress by load. The science of bales is really quite facinating.

Weary, I know you've been around, but 1880? I suspect the state of your knowledge in 1880 was... non existant. :)
