Whichever method you go with, experiment beforehand.  Not all women can skip 
their periods by skipping the blank pills.  Or you may need different types 
of pills in order for that to work.  Planning on that and then finding it 
doesn't work for you when you're out on the trail would not be fun.

Same with the Keeper.  Get it far enough in advance to give yourself a few 
months to get used to it before hitting the trail.  It's nice not to have to 
deal with your period at every pit stop and the Keeper might just let you go 
all day (or at least during the hiking portion) without having to deal with 
it.

If you don't have time to experiment before you start, then just carry a 
backup until you figure out if it's going to work for you.
