[at-l] Supplements--Am I crazy?

Except I'm here because I know that I haven't thought of everything. =
If there's anyone out there with good advice on long distance hikes with =
dogs, I'd love to hear it. Specifically, I'd like to know about =
recommendations on packs. Zeke went through two of the el cheapo ones =
just last summer alone. If I could find a good sturdy one that doesn't =
chafe him, I'd be delighted. I've been getting the cheap ones and =
adding additional padding to the strap that goes under his armpits. I'm =
also interested in what measures people have taken to make sure their =
dog has gotten adequate nutrition on the trail. I'm considering a high =
calorie paste supplement such as nutri-cal to insure sufficient calories =
in addition to a good, high protein dog food. I also supplement the dogs =
with vitamin e oil, acidophilus and brewers yeast. If anyone has advice =
on these or additional issues regarding taking dogs on a long distance =
hike I'd love to hear it. I know that a lot of people don't think that =
dogs belong on trails but I've made my decision on this matter and any =
advice I can get on how to make it the most beneficial experience for =
all concerned is greatly appreciated.

  Alexis

I believe you :) I guess it's just a case of lazy dog owners =
ruining the rep's of all dogs on the Trail. Sounds to me like you've =
thought of everything. I say take your dogs and go hiking!=20
