What's "hunaity" anyway???

I agree that there aren't many generalizations that can be made 
about hikers.  Aside from the obvious:  there must be some 
appreciation for the woods, and nature, or they wouldn't be 
out there in the first place.

As for thru-hikers, I found only that a healthy ego (for better 
or for worse) was standard equipment.  I guess that's not too 
surprising either.  One needs a healthy dose of that in order 
to contemplate and then complete a 2100 mile walk and all 
its travails.
