[at-l] sewing your own pack

I made a pack 2 years ago. It's essentially a large stuff sack onto which I
added a waist belt, shoulder straps, extention collar, and 3 large mesh
outside pockets. The dimentions are 22"x11.5"x9" and it's made of 1.9oz
ripstop and packcloth. For suspension, I roll up my RidgeRest, insert it
into the pack and unroll it into a 'tube' into which I place my gear.
I've carried this pack from N Adams MA to Boiling Springs PA without any
problems. This year, I'll be using my G4 though. Pooch decided to stress
test the mesh pockets... pooch won. I may replace the pockets, but, I triple
stitched the whole thing and besides... I really want to use the G4.
Prior to making this pack, my total sewing experiance was zilch... it's
really not all that difficult if taken one stitch at a time.
Be creative! and watch out for dogs.
