Re[3]: [at-l] Hammocks and the Whites

"...I'd hate to think a pack of rowdy cub scouts could wipe out a species." says
Terrapin.

There's one extremely rare flower near the Lake of the Clouds hut that is
totally off limits to even hikers. The trails in the area tend to be built with
relatively smooth walking surface and rock barrier walls in an attempt to keep
 people off the fragile vegetation.

Most resist the temptation to leave the trail and traverse the jumble of
boulders just off the trail. The AMC has some pretty wise trail crews. From
long experience in an overused area they know and apply all the passive
 people-control trail-building techniques.

GRadually the great expanses of trampled vegetation from 30 years ago are
  recovering.
