That's a weak argument.
Why not mention foot prints or the trail itself for that matter? The
unsightly holes are temporary, as are foot prints, vanquished by wind, rain,
and gravity. They cause no lasting damage. The trail itself, especially in
problem areas, wouldn't be there or hardly discerable without yearly
maintenance, whether people used Lekis or not.
That doesn't happen with litter, someone has to pick it up and dispose of it.
