At one point I was actually thinking of making a map of North America
specifically depicting where it's soda, pop, and coke. New England's soda
would be surrounded on three sides by Canada's pop; meanwhile the soda/pop
line would proceed south from Lake Ontario, straight through downtown
Rochester, NY, through west-central PA (Altoona?) and into northwestern WV.
>From the south, the coke and soda line is less difined, and has some
overlap, such as in VA, or in urban areas like Atlanta. WV seems to be where
soda, coke and pop come together. Pop then continues well into the
upper-mid-west, but interestingly turns back into soda for portions of the
Rockies and the west coast. Not quite sure what's going on in Texas....

The correct terms are pop or soda pop, not soda. Soda is something that
goes
with Scotch. Nobody around here understands that.
