[at-l] NC Trail advice
Wesser is covered (i.e. - no longer a bald). I think there is an open space
on Wayah (besides the parking lot) to the east of the tower, but I can't say
for sure because we walked past and were looking in front of us as we passed
the tower two years ago (I simply recall an open space out the corner of my
eye). We started a Bartram Trail hike there (went the wrong way past the
tower before turning and going toward the lake and the river). There's
nothing much as far of open space on the Bartram from Wayah down to the
Nantahala River gorge (sections 5 and 6), which I know is the opposite
direction from what you asked - just figured I'd throw that in since I've
hiked it. Only exception is the Appletree group camp.

playing in the snow) as Siler Bald is. I've only hiked as far north as
Wayah Gap and a little around Wesser. Also, are there balds or open hilly
spaces on the Bartram Trail as you head towards Sylva on Hwy 64? >>
