[at-l] Rain Pants (vs gaitors?)

I've hiked in the rain and generally found if its not too cold that I'm
comfortable in just shorts.  My boots do fill up water, however and I'm
tempted to try gaitors to try to keep the water out.  Its not a big
problem, not enough water can get in there to be much extra weight, and
its not uncomfortable; just wondering what others do?
