[at-l] Closest takeout point to NY City

Hi

I'd say you have 3 choices, probably depending on when you hit the area.

1) Bus from Bear Mountain
2) train from East side of Hudson (just a few miles further). There is a
weekend station on the trail (Manitou) and full service stations a few miles
in either direction (near route 9)
3) train from Pawling area. Similarly there is a weekend station on the
trail (AT station) plus full service stations north of south a few miles
(near route 22).

Check the Thru Hikers Companion where it's all described. Some one recently
posted a link to an online version of same:
http://www.aldha.org/comp_pdf.htm See pages 102, 103 and 106.
