In talking to Bob Peoples casually this fall, it is my understanding that
his "acquisition" of strong young backs for Trail maintenance is partly a
result of a pact with a nearby college program. I believe students earn
college credits for an "internship" on the Trail. What a win-win situation!

I am not certain of the particulars, but perhaps this idea could be used in
other areas. I would be surprised if Dartmouth didn't have a similar
arrangement. Bob's college deal brings him many fresh faces (and what an
excellent role model for young folk).

That, of course, and Bob's tireless and enthusiastic spiel as hikers pour
thru his lovely hostel. He gets some help that way too!
