And I met a guy who carried a extra large can of peaches -- minus the
peaches.  Later found out it was his pot, water dipper, coffee mug (when he
boiled coffee for the group around the fire, he'd allow us to pour out some
first), etc.  

Also I've heard of a guy who carried a battery operated TV so he would not
miss WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
