[at-l] Free gear donated by hikers who did not Tuckerize

Losing something is totally different from casting it aside. The cast offs
don't want to be found by the person who left them. The lost things are
actively sought after. For instance, I've seen underwear hanging from
branches along the trail, not by a shelter or tent site, but along the
trail. They were laundry that had been snagged off as the hiker went along.
Lost items, not cast offs. Tents set up and deserted are cast offs. I did
know one girl, though, who went on her first hiking trip into the Sipsey
Wilderness (AL) with a group. She just couldn't take it. She climbed over
a deadfall, turtled, unhitched the pack, and left it right there. She
marched back to the parking lot, and the rest of the group carried her stuff
out. anklebear
