[at-l] AT GPS

Gang -

Guess who Del Doc's neighbor is? Moi. He lives two blocks down my street
and is starting this effort when? Same day as me, March 1. Same place...
Springer Mountain. Truly a small world. I told him if he needs shuttle help
when he gets closer to home here, I'm there.

He's an amazing guy (I think he's thru-hiked 4 times). Although he's
surprizingly never heard of a Ruck. I clued him in but he's kinda busy this
year getting this organized. Maybe I'll see if I can't get him to come to
one next year.

This is truly a worthwhile effort. Help however you can.

Black&blue&gold ( blue and gold - the U of Del school colors - get it)
Proud to have a legend down the street in lil' ol' Delaware

<< Folks--
I've received a letter from ATC notifying me (and presumably
other Club leaders along the trail) that Del Doc (Vernon Vernier) is
going to do another AT centerline survey in 2002. From the
experience he gathered in '99 and better equipment now available, it
is expected that this survey will be much more useful in establishing
an accurate centerline. The previous survey has many gaps and errors
due to terrain, leaf cover etc. Not only has Del Doc purchased this
equipment himself, he has also offered to fund the logistical aspects
of the project. When he is done, the GPS equipment will be available
to trail clubs for their own projects free of charge. >>
