[at-l] Deer collisions Charity



In my area, a lot of hit deers end up on some "poor family's" table after a
game butcher has cut it up.  I don't know if it's official policy or
"back-door" policy, but it's a neat idea.  I don't think they take the other
kind of road kills.  Although I did know some "country" people who swear by
'coon and possum.  But it takes a real "old-timer" to fix "them critters"
right.  Possum's awlful greasy.

I know back in my homestate (RI), the person who 
killed the deer with his/her vehicle was allowed first
dibs on it. If they decided not to keep it, the Dept.
of Environmental Management had a rotating list of Rod
and Gun clubs to call. If they were at the crash site
by a certain time, they could take the deer. 

Many of the local Rod and Gun club's game dinners were
done with meat obtained in this way. 

No idea how it works in Colorado...
