Hi,
Thanks for your post regarding W. Doyle and the ALDHA Gathering. It was
quite well put. I was there and near B. Jack when he left. I sat
paralyzed until I heard the hiss and "Shame!" I couldn't believe my ears
that such insensitive verse was chosen by Mr. Doyle. I stayed through the
whole experience than left for my tent at Storrs Pond. As I drove there, I
got angrier and angrier that he chose the gathering for a bully pulpit. I
am an infantry veteran and heard what he said through a veteran's ears. I
was so upset when I returned to Storrs that I pulled my tent and left for
home.
It was after I explained to my wife what had happened that I came to the
conclusion that I wasn't going to let Mr. Doyle ruin my weekend at the
Gathering and I returned the next morning [Hanover is about an hour away
from my home.] I put him out of my mind and had a wonderful time
ESPECIALLY the music/slide show put on by Walkin' Jim Stoltz. His program
was one of the greatest experiences of my 65+ years and I would drive hours
to see it again. I'm with B. Jack on this.
