[at-l] Re: Windmill (Bird Kill)

Rocks--

Here is a link that also might interest you. Its a short conversation with
E. O. Wilson. While the article is not directly related to the specific
environmental issues surrounding the AT, this guy is amazing.
His science is what interests me the most, but the philosophy in the last
couple paragraphs might be of particular interest to you. While you are
probably familiar with him, I thought I'd send the link along.

I was first introduced to this man's readings in B-School, in a class on
competition, many years ago. I find that rather ironic since his mesage
goes so much deeper. Over the years I have come to the conclusion this man
is a genius, and should be read and known by anyone interested in the
environment.

On the radio yesterday (I got the buttons confused and found NPR while
looking for Rush) he reinforced his point about how necessary it is to look
beyond the next few years, or even generations, when considering the
environmental impact of what we do today. That is so true. I think the
people who fight most zealously to protect the AT understand that. I was
also heartened that Wilson is not entirely pessimistic about our future. We
are in trouble though.
