I have no qualms about Ziplocs because the energy from the boiled water (at 
least as it rapidly cools in the frigid temps in which I typically hike) is 
far less than the energy from a microwave (minimal chance to leech).  I 
presume a plasticizer of some sort is present as that is what makes the bag 
flexible.  I rarely cook in the bag anyway (I use my pot or my rubber cup).
