I was hiking with and pumping for two hypochondriacs and decided it was 
easier than arguing (I was ready to fill from the tailpipe as well).  It 
fouled because of the sand bed below the tailpipe (the prefilter on the float 
is good with twigs and leaves but little stuff gets through to the filter 
body).  However, the little scrub pad cleans stuff pretty quickly.
