[at-l] Fleece/Other Clothing Recommendations

My experience, but using a warmer 0F WM Puma bag, is that once your
sleeping bag is warm, the clothes are not so important. The most important
time is just after deciding where you are stopping for the day, getting out
of wet day hiking clothes and into something either dryer or windproof. In
general, I found keeping my head, hands and chest warm was most valuable. I
think you will find the Expedition weight just too warm and too heavy for
the investment.

I would bring 2 Ultimax socks - total. No liners. The puffball vest is
popular, and I like vests as a good alternative to 2 pit zipped sweaters.
I'm into multiple thin layers.

Hats are real important. I cover ears for two reasons: 1) warmth of the ear
2) to prevent sunburn which also affects warmth. You have essentially the
same choices I like. Last year I had an OR windproof Aztec godawful red and
black hat in cold weather. Lousy fashion statement but great hat and pot
cozy. This year I've got a Peruvian alpaca real Aztec hat that covers ear
and pretty much anything I ask of it. Better fashion statement, but who
knows how well it will work? I also use sunscreen.
