[at-l] PaRuck Food Stuff

This year, to cut down on the muss and fuss, we are on
our own for breakfasts.

Friday Supper....Welcome Rucksters Pasta dinner.
The Ruckfund from last year's Ruck stands at just under
30 bucks which will buy the pasta and jar sauce as well
as some meatballs and sausage.

Cheerio is bringing the fixins for a salad.

We need bread, oil /butter and someone to turn it into garlic/no garlic toast,
and spaghetti cheese.

Sorry, I learned last year that the jar sauce, although meatless,
has some animal component in it. The meatballs and sausage
will be served/cooked separately from the sauce, but if you are a
strict vegger, you are on your own.

Saturday Lunch
There will be soup available for 3 bucks a bowl w/refill.
The proceeds of the Soup Sale will go to MATC, Maine Appalachian Trail Club,
in honor of Beverly Hugo aka Maine Rose or "Rosie" to her friends.
Sorry veggers (again)..it's veggie beef soup

Saturday Supper
We will again have a Pot Luck supper. You know how it works.
Everyone brings a something to share and we all eat well. We know
there are Rucksters who can only boil water so there are group needs
that you can kick in on to do your part.

BTW...anything you bring that doesn't get used...feel free to take it
home with you or leave it for the Hostel's use.

Coffee..we need two big cans of Regular and two of De cafe.(drip style)
Creamer...2 BIG jars
Sugar...
Teas are nice too!

Six shares of the Hams are available at 5 bucks each

Paper plates....we need 200 REALLY HEAVY DUTY,
dinner sized paper plates (no foam please)
Napkins..200 outta do it.
Aluminum foil- 1 roll
Plastic wrap-1 roll
Bread.....plain old sliced white bread doesn't seem to get eaten but
Sourdough, Rye and other nifty breads and rolls vanish.
Butter and lighter spreads
Nothing wrong with store bought desserts!!!

Ok, that's it for the culinarily challenged. If you can cook, please
remember there is only one oven, and worse yet, only one rack in that
oven. We bake the ham ahead of time and the beans will be in a
crock pot so that frees up the oven but still that means only
room for two or three largish pan/casseroles. So try for things that
you can bring in a crockpot or salads or things that don't take much
oven time. If your dish is best eaten from a bowl, bring paper bowls
so no on has to do a lot of dishes.

What should I bring?

Don't even THINK of asking me <VVVBG>. I won't tell you or if I do,
you will get one answer....PIE <g>.

How much should I bring?

We don't have firm numbers yet (we never do<g>) but if the last two
years are any indication, we will be 80+ for the pot luck. Obviously,
no one is expected to bring enough of anything to serve 80. Bring
what you are comfortable bringing.

Last year, the end of the supper line did find the pickens a bit slimmer
than the beginning because we had a lot of unexpected guests, but I
don't think anyone went hungry. We did run out of the standards like
potato and pasta salads and stuff so if you see potato salad on the
a later list, it doesn't mean we can't use more than one bowl.

I think maybe we'll put food out in shifts this year as stuff disappears
so everyone gets a selection.

One last thing.....if everyone waits to see what everyone else if bringing....
well it sorta defeats the purpose of this exercise. <G>

So far we have:
2 Baked Hams
1/2 ton of Bacon Baked Beans
Pittsburgh's Perfect Peanutbutter Pies

OK....make your pick and email it to me
I'll repost the list in a couple days and then
once a week till the Ruck.
