[at-l] The best hiking advice I ever got

Plain and simple,

KEEP PERSISTING

It came, when ask, by a '91 thru-hiker at the Rufus Morgan Shelter when I
passed through in '97. Bigfoot was also real helpful with local knowledge of
NOC and Bryson City. He suggested that we stay at the shelter that night and
NOC the next. We asked about beer. Not to worry, he met us the next morning
with a case of Bud. When we went to pay him, he refused, it was on him. We
took a ride with Bigfoot and checked out his property and cabin not far from
the NOC and talked thru-hiking. Upon returning to NOC he came up to one of
the bunk houses and we chatted some more on the decks they have there. You
could tell he missed the scene.

A few times when I thought of quitting , I just go back and remember his
words. It's obvious to me, the rewards were worth it.
