Kahley,

If you think I'm whining, you're wrong. If you you don't like my posts and
think they sound sour, you're welcome to use the delete key, as you so often
suggest. Atleast, I'm on topic, and when I see something I don't agree with,
I reserve the right to respond, even if may be contrary to the flow and
disrupts list harmony.

Are you kidding me? Go back and read the archives and see how OB arrived at
either choice. First was the date last year, that automatically conflicted
with the original ruck. More than one wanted the date changed, so they could
at least of having the option of attending both. The date changed this year
so that wouldn't happen again, which is good, but if I'm not mistaken, it
took some coaxing.

Without repeating myself totally, I wont get into Goose Creek being
non-winterized, and made the "suggestion" that Keith at GC was charging too
much and either that a deal be cut to lower the fee or perhaps move it to
Hiawassee, a venue with much better facilities at a better price. (opps, I
repeated myself). The difference in drive times between the two was minimal.

It turns out last years GA Ruck went fine by all accounts and I thought that
was great. I was envious of the reports and pics and I was disappointed that
I couldn't attend. Still, that fact, doesn't change things and I still think
that the price Keith was charging was a rip-off, especially for that time of
year.

Word on the private side has it, not many wanted to change the venue this
year after establishing "something" last year and having such a great time,
and I don't blame them. Someone, not me, took up the ball and cut a deal
with Keith to get the cabins at $15 per person per night and if I'm not
mistaken these figures and sentiment was expessed to OB, but he balked and
changed the venue on his own.

Lastly, I wouldn't make a group choice without first consulting the others
that were going to attend. Since I'm not going to be there this years GARuck
(and couldn't make it last), I'll let those that are going decide.

As far as announcing yet another Ruck, yes I will.

The YuckYuckYuck Ruck for cross country planners. Exact dates and details to
be announced, but it probably be held at the NOC. I'm looking to establish
dates in March, when the AT hikers start pasing through and before the CDT
and PCT hikers head out west.

Of course any comments, ideas and/or constructive criticisms are welcome.

Sly
