I'm planning on buying a new sleeping bag for my AT hike (starting end of march) and I can't decide what temperature rating to get. I'd like to get a bag under 2 pounds if possible and have been looking at the Marmot Arroyo (30 degrees) and the Pinnacle (15 degrees). I'm concerned that a 30 degree bag won't keep me warm enough at the beginning and end. Did anyone have 2 bags that they used during their hike, one for summer and one for spring/fall? Also, did any of you use sleeping bag liners? To keep the bag clean or to keep it warmer? Any and all input would really be appreciated.

I'm planning to use a down 20deg bag till the weather gets real warm,
then a simple fleece bag. Depending on how long I'm out, may have to switch
back to the down bag. I'm gonna be carrying a silk bag liner, not for
warmth, but to keep things from getting totally yucky.

A bag liner is easier to wash, and that keeps the number of times you
have to wash a down bag down, which is probably the main culprit that
takes away Loft and bag lifetime.
