Ooh!  I've been there.  Friends have a place in Myakka City (such as it 
is) so we trundled over to the park.  Very pretty.  It seems more like a 
canoeing place than a backpacking place though.

Surely someone in your family could be persuaded to drive you out there 
and pick you up.  It's not *that* far from Sarasota.  Heck, we drive
out from Palmetto.
