If my goal was to complete a thruhike ... yes, it would be a failure.
that doesn't mean I didn't have fun. I define success as attaining ones
goals. If my goal was to wander aimlessly in the woods for 6 months and
have a helluva time, then I couldn't care less where I ended up for the hike
to be a success.
