[at-l] First AT Murder ???
ORR,
Your story about the disappearance of Paula Weldon reminded me of a 1999
article written on the "Bennington Triangle" in the Rutland Herald. The
story, written by Dave Mance, was about the horror stories that have occurred
on or near Glastenbury Mtn. Here's a recap of what he wrote:
In the late 1800's a stagecoach was attacked on what is now Rte 9. The
occupants told a tale of a huge "Bigfoot" creature that overturned the coach
then fled into the forest. In 1890 William Conroy killed a fellow coworker in
nearby Fayville. He was sent to the asylum in Waterbury where he escaped and
was never heard from again. It was rumored that he made his way back to
Glastenbury to hide on the mountain. It was rumored that he may have played a
role in the mountain's future mysteries.
In 1945, 74 yr old Middie Rivers, and experienced woodsman and hunter
disappeared and was never seen again. One year later, Paula Weldon
disappeared on an afternoon hike on Glastenbury Mtn. Four years after the
Paula Weldon incident, 8 yr old Paul Jepson vanished without a trace.
Some theorize a serial killer, alien abduction or a Bigfoot attack. One
photographer, Bruce Hallenback claims to have taken a picture of Bigfoot on
the mountain.
The next time you hike the trail over Glastenbury keep your eyes and ears
open...who knows what evil lurks in the shadows.............you might get a
glimpse of Bigfoot.
