No, Bob - it wasn't that simpleminded.  It was the excessively enforced 
trail advocacy that drove people to find other places to express themselves 
in their own ways rather than the rigidly controlled "politically correct" 
way.  Once you drive people off a list, many of them don't come back.  And 
it's generally the more vocal, experienced and intelligent contributors who 
are the first to leave.
