The Park closes it's over night camping season (including the AT shelters) o=
n=20
October 15th. The Park is open for dayhiking until the end of November. The=20
summit trails can close for good anytime from mid September on. Last year th=
e=20
mountain closed due to a blizzard early in Oct, but was open again soon afte=
r.
This year there were thruhikers going up on November 2nd & 3rd, and when I=20
called on the 12th they said hikers were still going up via the AT.
The Park wants thruhikers to plan on getting to Katahdin before Oct. 15th.
That's very good advice.
