[at-l] A.N.W.R. VOTE - conservation issue - not trail

Just a question, (and one I do not know), how much of
the ANWR oil will actually be going to domestic energy
needs, and not being sold for foreign energy needs?

The cynic in me scratches his head when I see a
multitude of SUVs that see more of a mall parking lot
than they ever will a FS road (And most of those SUVs
would get hopelessly stuck if they went off-road, but
that is another story) decorated with American flags
and hear the cry for how we must drill to support our
growing energy needs.

Call me old fashioned, but perhaps we should cut back
as a first measure to help alleviate our growing
energy needs? Then again, belt tightening is not
exactly the American way....

Yes, the ANWR will be drilled. But that is merely a
band-aide that does not address the root problem. We
were blessed in this country with a multitude of
resources. The problem is that most of those resources
are finite. Like a family that spends above its means
and finances everything on credit, we will eventually
have to pay the piper.

But as long as the American people as a whole feel
they can spend today, to heck with tommorow, we will
continue to use up the resources with no means of
replacing it. As the Chinese say "may you live in
interesting times".
