National Geographic has a fairly new magazine out, I believe it's called
'Adventure'. The November issue has a good article on
physical/psychological effects of getting lost, and the relationship to the
chance of survival.
The only quibble I had with it that they cited the Boomhower case on the
Northville-Placid Trail as an example, but other than that I found a lot of
good information.
