DETAILS:    
Leaving out tomorrow midday for the mts. of NC/TN to do a small stretch
connecting two previous hikes.

Here's a pack list for a 2.5-day SOBO stretch of the AT. Hope to make
Iron Mt. Shelter by dark Friday, then a 13-mile Saturday, Sunday ending
up in Laurel Fork Gorge to camp just past the cliffwalk, against that
amazing rock wall. 

Coming out Monday morning to shower at Kincorra, my shuttler and car
keeper.
Am hiking with a buddy, but both carrying own full kits. One
exception (for emergencies) below. First time on AT for buddy.
Sunny weather predicted. Hoping for the best, but prepared for bad
weather.

GEAR LIST:

PACK:
1 pound-plus GearSkin "pack" from Moonbow (the purpose of this trip -
to check it out - Maiden Voyage)
Silnylon Pack rain cover

SLEEP:
20-degree NF synthetic NF bag
Jagbag silk bag liner
Thermorest Ultralite Pad
Space Blanket ground cloth

SHELTER:
Tarp
(Buddy carrying 1.5-man Kelty Clark tent, thus emergency
backup should a bad storm hit)
Stakes, guys
Groundcloth

STOVE:
Esbitt tabs (5 hot meals, taking 8 tabs) (buddy doing alcohol)
Lighter
alum. foil windscreen
(rocks for potstand, worked great this spring)

COOKSET:
 .9 liter ti pot and nesting tin SnoPeak Mug
Virtually Weightless plastic cup (cuz I got tired that tin cup
burning my lips, but I like having it to heat drink water while I eat
from my pot)
Lexan spoon 

LIGHT:
Petzl Tikke headlight
Matches
candle stub (because I can - saving five pounds on pack switch alone)
keychain photon light (same)

RED BAG - 
Personal: 
toothbrush, paste, comb, 4 wet wipes, TP 1/3 roll, ziplock
First aid:
part roll Vet wrap (once horsey, always...)
2 blister bandaids, tube chapstick w/ sunscreen(to double as face/wind
protection), ibupro, 2 band aids, tiny vial hand sanitizer, Benadryl,
beesting kit
Duct tape around ...
SW filtered water bottle
Widemouth Powerade Water Bottle (2)
Stand and Zip Glad bag (BTW, was great for hauling camp water - w/
bandanna sling - and for dipping from shallow springs - and pouring and
decanting - and dog bowl, should one crave a dog bowl))

RAIN:

Provent Rain Jacket
Bread Bags (2)
Trashbag for sitting upon

CLOTHES (incl. what will be worn):

Fleece stuff sack doubles as pillow

REI Expedition weight  long johns/tights (smooth outside, fuzzy
inside, mmmm)
Tight-weave Merino wool sweater
Marmot DriClime Windshirt - probably redundant with raincoat, but so
fuzzy inside...
Patagonia vest (synthetic)
Fleece neck gaiter (mmmm #2 - because it feels SO GOOD!)


FOOD: 
(3.5 pounds for Friday lunch and dinner, Sat/Sun all meals, Mon am
breakfast)

3 Ramen-yes-ramen-based dinners (adding refried beans to the Chili
ramen, lentil pilaf to the chicken ramen)
6 drink mixes (cider/cocoa)
LOTSA snacks: nutz,/dried blueberries/M&Ms,/Goldfish crackers/ginger
snaps, granola bars
3 Lunch - 3 tuna packs plus the Goldfish crackers
2 oatmeal, 1 cold Mon. breakfast of granola bars

Emergen C- 4 packets

Small knife with scissors

Reading glasses!

snacks (daily portions of the above)

ginseng caps(for those big climbs)

sunglasses on a cord since, in forgetting them everywhere,  I am
definitely leaving traces
