Hey,

I just missed Bill Irwin in 99. He canoed into the Elks camp area with
the Ranger in Millinocket (darn what is his name) Buddy I think) and
served spaghetti dinners to hikers, ayce! This was right after the
hurricane Floyd induced flood of the 100 mile wilderness. Many of the
thru hikers yellow blazed a bunch of miles to make the free meal. The
small group I was with elected to hike the trail instead. We did get a
ride around the flooded Pleasant river., but we hiked to the opposite
river bank at the trail crossing :-) so we only skipped 100 feet or so.
Anyway hikers reported that blind Bill had no problem hitting the
plates with heaps of spaghetti that he spooned from a big pot.

chase
