[at-l] Where do you put your packs at night?

I had a very interesting experience this year. I was in one of the very
first shelters out of Springer and hung my food bag in the shelter on one of
the mouse ropes. I was chastised by the women hikers that were there with
me. They were of the opinion that hanging the food in the shelter like I did
would invite a visit by the local bear population. At the time the bears
were not even out of hibernation yet and anyone who knows a little about
bear behavior would know that if they were they would be at the lower
elevations where the vegetation has started to arouse from there winter
slumber. As for bear bagging while not staying at a shelter I only did that
one time. I saw signs of bear activity so took the precaution. The other
times I placed my food inside my fly but outside of the tent proper. I never
had or have had a problem with that practice. Now this is in the eastern
part of the US out west I would behave differently.
