[at-l] Need input as to winter hiking the AT

I remember seeing a few in March / April sometimes walking along the trail -
but never saw anyone shooting or heard it. They seemed to use the trail to
help get somewhat into the hills then off into the brush they would go.
Most of them had their guns in one of those soft over-the-shoulder cases
since they were just travelling when I saw them. I did see lots of wild
turkeys as well.

This spring in SW VA I remember waking up early am and seeing 4 guys in camo
w/ large guns in their hands walking past the front of the shelter. One guy
waved. Those of us awake just looked at each other.

I just thought about this one.

turkey season is in the spring. March & April here in Ms. Right in
the middle of thru hiking season. (not that we get many of those down
here) You don't hear about this much. every one worries about the
winter deer hunters. I've never heard anyone discuss the spring
hunters.
