[at-l] How 'Moose Killer' got his name

I met a sobo called Moose Killer while on the AT/LT earlier this month. I
though you'd enjoy during this time of seriousness and grief how he got his
name. As far as I know this is an accurate account, but there may be more
to it:

Let me tell how Moose Killer (an AT south bounder who's older than me) got
his name. He met a cow and a bull moose on the trail in Maine. The cow went
to one side and the bull charged him, stopping about ten feet in front of
him. Moose Killer pulled out mace or pepper spray, giving it a shot. This
angered the bull, and Moose Killer jumped behind some trees with the bull
moose ramming the trees trying to get at him. Nose to nose and cornered, he
gave it another shot of spray. This REALLY angered the bull, who hammered
against the trees with his antlers. After about 25 minutes of angry
charges, the bull decided that he had more interest in his cow, and that
their was no threat to their relationship and departed for her. Hence,
'Moose Killer.'
