Hi all,

As I work for the government in the Philadelphia area I got half of 
the day off yesterday.  I spent some time trying to contact my son 
in Newark, but the phone lines were tied up.  Managed to get hold 
of him with Instant Messager.  He is near the medical school and 
he was helping to organize a blood donation plan.  He can see all 
of the smoke and dust from his dorm window.  I have not been able 
to contact my parents as they are in the Washington area and it is 
impossible to get a call through.  They do not own a computer so I 
cannot even e-mail them.  I am getting ready to go to work as the 
President wants the appearance of normalcy for today.

I am a combat veteran and at one time a crew chief on a medivac 
chopper and I can image the horror that the rescue people are 
facing in their efforts to save lives.  The report this morning are not 
good.  I am still trying to find out about a fire fighter friend of mine in 
NY.  There may be as many as 100 police officers and 250 fire 
fighters killed in NY.

Please, the red cross needs blood donars or cash contibutions.  
Many local agencies need volunteers.  If possible please try to help.
