Who cares? The more appropriate issue to discuss is whether
eminent domain is morally just.

That's because this mailing list is nominally about the
Appalachian Trail, but for the record I'll state that with
the possible exception of law enforcement, I believe the
government should have no business in any of the things
you've listed.
