Welcome to the campfire, here's a log, sit down and rest your weary bones. 
Someone will pass a smashmellow as soon as it's cooked golden brown or do you 
prefer blackened. 
Lets see, You're a 25 YO female Michigander about to be married; we promise 
not to hold any of that against you. But, there are those on this list that 
very well might hold it against you that you don't know LOTR is Lord Of The 
Rings. There are times when one might think this list is a Middle Earth list 
not an AT/hiking list.
You will find that this list is full of wisecrackers (this writer excluded, 
of course) so hang loose as you read the mail.
Like many in the news world you ask too many questions (all at one time). You 
won't get many short answers to those type questions, well really not many 
short answers to anything from usins. 
I'm sure you'll get some good responses to your questions from those whose 
mind and fingers are more closely coordinated than my half a brain, one 
fingered version.
Again, welcome; if you stick around a while I'm sure you'll be able to decide 
if a long distance hike is your cup of tea.
