...when you're hiking and a thunderstorm comes up? It was quite the
topic of conversation--and different opinions--in June 96 when I was
making my way through southwestern and central VA (in what seemed like
continual rain). Some took shelter under trees; many hiked on. One guy
pitched his tent whenever it looked like rain. One woman was carrying a
tube tent as her emergency shelter. When the weather got bad, she
crawled into it and sat next to the trail, looking something like a
large orange catepillar.
What do you do? And what should we do? Those might be different
answers...
