During this thread on land conservation ethics, there have been
several references to Western Europeans, Christianity, and capitalists
having little, if any, regard for such ethics. The loss of natural
habitats is hardly limited to particular geographies, religions,
or political philosophies. It seems to me that the conflict arises
from population growth and from the transition from rural agrarian
societies to urban industrial societies and that these changes are
happening all over the world, across many different religions, and
under all types of political regimes.
