These wouldn't have been people living in that @#$%@%^ box on the
ridgeline? 

That area is booming for retirees and such, and a very fine part of the
world. I suspect that if there is any interest in preserving the 
corridor and viewsheds, agressive land acquisition will be the ticket
today. There may be some softening of prices as this recession
progresses.
