Occupation: Computer Consultant (Specialist in Geographic Information
Systems), Life Long College Student (degree in Computer Science, have 2
years towards a music performance degree, and working towards a degree in
Forestry). After my planned thru-hike, I hope to finish my forestry degree
and bid my fond farewell to the corporate world. I also work from time to
time as a musician, I play the sax and the bass guitar in several bands as
time permits (and no, I won't be carrying either instrument on next year's
thru-hike).
Hobbies: Hiking, fishing, music - making and listening, reading....oh
wait, is gear-buying a hobby?

First time on the AT: when I was around 12 years old, in the Smoky
Mountains
First hike on AT: when I was around 15 years old, from Newfound Gap in the
Smoky Mountains for a mile with mom.
First solo hike on AT: when I was 20 years old, Newfound Gap northbound, a
daytrip
First maintaining trip: never on the AT, have been volunteering since 1998
as a member of the Red River Gorge Trail Crew in Kentucky.
Favorite soft beverage: Iced Tea, with lemon

My planned start date for my thru-hike of the AT is March 21, 2002...I
have secured a leave of absence from work, however am doubtful that I'll be
coming back to the corporate grind after my hike....life's too short.
