what you are looking at is the west branch of the Susquehanna River on the 
left and
the north or main branch of the Susquehanna on the right.  Off the bottom 
of the picture
is the fabridam which forms Lake Augusta which extends about eight+ miles 
upstream
into both branches.  I swam the west branch from approximately the top of 
the picture to the point
where the two branches meet.

public......

Actually, now that I've done it, I realize it really wasn't such a big deal;
I think it was the idea of it that sacred me. Now that I've loosened up,
I don't even really hurt. I had a crazy thought awhile ago....find a point
50 miles north and swim home from there next year. Fifty miles at
50 years old has a ring to it doncha think? All but the last eight miles
would be actual river and be much faster going. I could haul gear
and food if I got a bigger wakeboard......and overnight on islands.hmmmm......
make an interesting weekend.....

It was just like soooo much of life....sounds harder than it is.  All ya gotta
do is try......
