[at-l] Failing the List requirements and elves

I am the same way. I always figured it was because I
have a runaway imagination and tend to personify
everything and sense the "spirit" of all the beings
out there. So, to talk to the trees and flowers, then
listen for an answer (and sometimes get one!) isn't
such an unusual thing. And tree hugging ...
definitely. I feel like they're all my "friends" out
there, and there is such an overwhelming sense of
connection, it doesn't make sense NOT to talk to them
or hug them. Kind of like when you hug an old friend
you haven't seen in awhile. Part of it, too, is that
I'm a tactile person--I have to touch
everything--bark, leaves, rocks, water, lichens, etc.

OK, Orange Bug, have I qualified for the psych unit
yet? :-)

Let's see, the last tree I hugged was on the Foothills
Trail in South Carolina several weeks ago. The
yellow-blazed trail had ended and we started hiking
the white-blazed trail. I know we were miles from the
AT, but there's just something about a tree with the
first white blaze painted on it that made me feel like
going up and hugging a long-lost friend.

OK, time to go--the real world of cubicles and air
conditioner (ugh) awaits ...
