I don't think posts about political issues relating to the trail on AT-L
necessarily breed dessension on the AT-L.

Eg., R&R's report of a localized controversy about a billboard provided good
information without preaching or disparaging other's ethics or commitment
"wilderness" or "trail" preservation and enhancement, etc . . . That's the
sort of "information" I enjoy reading here . . . What's so hard or
difficult to understand about that? What I do with that information is MY
business, not any one else's business . . .

What breeds dessension are, as Jan pointed out, the "YOU" statements which
attack an individual personally, or a group of people, eg., those who enjoy
the NONpartisan aspect of the AT-L . . . I have no doubt that regardless of
one's partisan position on any given political trail related issue, most of
us will be grateful for clear, succinct reporting such as R&R achieved by
passing on a news article about a billboard . . .
