[at-l] Waaaaay off topic

I have a question regarding hotel room floor tiles.

Why, in handicapped accessable rooms are the tiles in the bathrooms always 1" tiles and the tiles in the typical bathroom are 4". Is this code or coincidence? What is to be gained by the 1" tile? More traction? Colder on your feet? I am "assuming" there is a good reason for this, but can't figure out what it might be -ahhh, the mysteries of Peoria.
