Yes, it's a pretty big priority, along with a high IQ,
an appreciation for classical music and 19th century
English poetry, the ability to fix a car, a high
tolerance for bad cooking and bad singing, an
optimistic outlook, a decent salary, a passion for
roller coasters, the ability to handle money and
general financial matters, a love for cats, well
developed calves, the ability to entertain oneself,
the ability to play a musical instrument, and a LOT of
patience. Oh, and "mountain man" beard is nice too,
but not mandatory! :-)

Seriously, hiking and a love of the outdoors is
definitely a priority, though Mr. Right doesn't need
to be an ultra-long-distance hiker. He should be able
to appreciate my need for long hikes, though. If I
meet him and he doesn't have the desire to hike 2,000+
miles at a time ... I'll just enjoy shorter hikes with
him, and ask him if he minds babysitting the cats and
taking care of my maildrops while I hike. :-)

Nina (I know, I know--with these standards, I've
already accepted my lot as an old maid!)
